National Women Organizations from 99 countries prepare the XIV WIDF Congress

Against the neo-liberal globalization, terrorism and imperialists wars, for equality, economic and social justice and for peace

 

Reunited at the Executive Committee in Portugal, on April 2006, WIDF called its XIV Congress to be held on April 2007, in Caracas, Venezuela.

 

The recent mobilizations and victories against the neo-liberal politic and the free market imposed by the USA, expressed on the elections of many countries of Latin America, opened new perspectives to confront the imperialist politic and the rapine in the American continent. 

The president’s names of Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, Fidel Castro, Nestor Kistcher, Tabare Vasquez, Michele Bachelet, Evo Morales and Hugo Chavez - symbols of advancing in the region - point toward a trustful Latin America in condition to promote the development, the self-determination of people and to build a better world to men and women of wide-world.

 The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that in 2003 hosted the IV WIDF Regional Conference for America and Caribbean and that in every moments shown itself solidarity to the women’s fight in the construction of a strong unity between people, prepares once again to receive women in the XIV WIDF Congress.

 The XIV WIDF Congress will be united under the flag of equality, economic and social justice, against imperialist wars, the terrorism, and neo-liberal politic will have also the purpose of electing the new EXECUTIVE board that will command WIDF from 2007-2010.

 

       XIV WIDF Congress

During four days WIDF will meet together women from all over the world to discuss theirs aims and election of the new EXECUTIVE BOARD

Prevision of participants – 2000 between delegates, guests and observing.

 

  • II Meeting of Young Woman from WIDF Affiliated

Its objective will be the balance of actuation and the inauguration of a platform of action for the young woman in the actuation of organizations affiliated and friends of WIDF.

  • Nation Festival

It will reunite in the same space activities of solidarity, cultural presentations of music, dance, regional handcraft and book fair.  The aim is to give visibility to the realization of international activities during the Congress, promoting a politic and cultural interchange, and reveals the creations, competence and women’s solidarity all over the world.

Prevision of participants – 50.000 visitants, public estimated.

 

  • Acts of Solidarity and Cultural presentations of music and dance

 

  • Solidarity to Venezuela, Arab Countries and Africa – There will be three great acts of solidarity together with cultural presentations of artists with theirs fight for peace trajectory.

 

  • Book Fair

The objective is the presentation and propagation of writing production done by many countries and organizations that will be participating of the Congress on specific areas of women’s fight, heath, politic participation, solidarity etc.

 

Venezuela

Venezuela, to the north of South America is today in the American Continent, the landmark of the development and the social transformations.

From the President Hugo Chavez’ election, in 1998, Venezuela comes fulfilling a role detached on fight of peoples for the progress and the sovereignty of the developing countries.  In the confrontation to the imperialism and leading a great popular mobilization, President Chavez faced the blow, deepened the State’s democracy and the strengthening to breach with the control of international financial capital in the Venezuelan economy.

The advance of Bolivarian Revolution brought radical transformations to Venezuela. The social programs organized by the Missions offer today to its people the most favorable conditions in health, social welfare, habitation, in the culture, sanitation and education. The Robinson Mission in a civic-military action more important of the republican history of Venezuela eradicated the illiteracy in the country and The Barrio Adentro Mission guarantees to the millions of Venezuelans the basic health assistance.   

Venezuela, with superior growth 17% on its economy is the richest country in petroleum in Latin America and the Caribbean.  Its company, the PDVSA (Petroleum of Venezuela Anonymous Society) produces more than 3 million barrels/day and is today the handspike for the development of the country, making possible the effective income distribution and the investment necessary to welfare of its population.

Integrated to the Mercosul, Venezuela composes the ample alliance for the strengthening of Latin America, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, conforming a expressive power polar region with the water reserves, gas and now the Venezuelan oil.

The young Venezuela Constitution, approved in plebiscite in 1999 by 89% of the voters, promotes a participative democracy that searches to include the most needed, the workers, the, indigenous, to guarantee rights to the excluded, making of Venezuela a territory of peace and social justice, searching the Latin American integration and giving more power to the people on its proper destination.

In this integration context, of understanding and international cooperation, WIDF is proud of carrying through its XIV Congress in Venezuela to become a historical landmark in the women movement and solidarity between people!
