WIDF Congress: “For a world of peace, sovereignty, work and equality” The “Caracas Letter”, approved on the XIV Congress of the Women International Democratic Federation, WIDF, condemned the imperialist wars aggression to Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Lebanon. “The XIV Congress of the Women international Democratic Federation, celebrated in Caracas between 8th and 14th April, 2007, declare itself heir of the heroic struggle of women and peoples of all world Our 62 years of existence has its roots on the fight of women, for national independence and peace to all over our planet. When in the beginning of 1945 our first world congress was realized, women of 49 countries of the most remote latitudes brought whit than the hope and the conviction of a better world, without discrimination, without occupation, without hungry, an ideal of a dingy peace. We notice the need to unify the women on the defense of their rights, and the need of raise up a big wall made of actions to build a lasting world peace. Since then, lots of things happened. It was The Cuban Revolution, the defeat of the North American imperialism at Vietnam, the release of the African and Asian colonies. And these warrior women, Cubans, Vietnamese, Palestine, Africans and Asians are examples that full of proud and dignity the WIDF and all Women. Changes The world has changed, not always for the good of the immense majority, but today many of these women are influent over the life in our planet. The XIV Congress is been realized in Venezuela of Bolívar and Manuela Sáenz. The revolutionary process at Venezuela it’s fundamental to our continent and for the world. Because of it, with the same fervency and intensity; with the same commitment, we can say that we are the fuller heiresses of the soviet women, and all other European countries women, who fought for the end of the Nazi-fascist occupation. The Africans women fought against colonialism and, at the most recent historic period, the women from Vietnam, Palestine, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua are in a difficult situation and even so they rescue our rights for salary justice and better work conditions; for the juridical equality of the worker, farmer, aboriginal, intellectual woman, who always was together with the people. We are women in struggle to transform the world and reach the economic, social, politic and gender justice, materialize the indispensable fight of the woman for the work. We are women of all ages, creeds, religions, identities, cultures, diverse levels of instruction, and we are convinced about our force and our commitment with the life, and our people. We are convinced of the necessity to make – and we are making – the changes of the economic, social, politic and patriarchal order, imposed by the neoliberal globalization. We want a peace world, and there for we demand the elimination of the imperialist politics of militarization of the planet and, in particular, the government of the United States and its allies war of aggression of in the Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine. We repudiate the Colombia plan and the implantation of military bases of U.S.A. in our continent. The peace for us is not only the absence of war or armed conflict; it’s not the peace of the cemeteries, neither of the impositions on our peoples. The peace for us it’s constructed with more work, health, education, public social security, gratuitous university and with respect to the national sovereignty, with economic and politic independence, with the integration of our peoples. But, on us women, fall over us the exclusion and the oppression and, therefore, is necessary to change the capitalist system and its patriarch reminiscence, to eliminate the asymmetry of power between men and women. We want a world of equality between men and women, where the equality can be real and effective. We condemn the quiet war that the great transnational capital imposed through the neoliberal politic forces generating hunger, malnutrition, misery, illiteracy and inequality of conditions that affect basically, with particular force, the women. We condemn the invasion of media made by the information’s transnational ones, by the industry of the entertainment that intends to eliminate our culture and national identity. We want a world with development and therefore we demand decisive actions that allow defending the environment. We want a world where each citizen can feel their rights respected and therefore we demand the elimination of all the forms of discrimination and violence against the women, of the traffic of women and children; of the sexual exploration, of prostitution, murder and traffic of drugs. Autonomy In this way it’s possible to hope for equality of conditions that propitiate economic autonomy for women. We want it possible under construction of a full citizenship that includes the juridical, economic, social and ethnic construction of the sense of life, of history, of democracy project. We cannot consider that full citizenship exists when exists the marginalization and women subordinated to patriarchates. We want a world of full access to the culture and knowledge for everyone. And with this we demand the abolition of the measures that allow commercializing the goods and services that are patrimonies of the women and all the Humanity, and that they are transformed into privileges for few some. For us, the power to Women is not only to vote and the possibility to be elected, it’s appropriate of the conduction of our lives; it’s the participation in an active way in the economic, social and politic decisions. It’s to exercise our rights. It’s the construction of a popular power, where it’s valuable the union of women and men for thus win the imperialism. The women are not a sector, neither a group, neither a subject. We are in every sector and every domain of the society. The diversity it’s creator. Because of it we dispose to incorporate all these diversified experience. Our reflection has as concern the economic, social, cultural and politic situation of each continent, region and country. Which implies the permanent reflection about our daily practices, disposing ourselves for elaboration of our own theories with the Women International Democratic Federation. Theory, whose elaboration demands the practice and the action of appropriate of the most advanced revolutionary elements”. |
